Specialist trauma therapy in Runcorn — EMDR & trauma-informed practice
Trauma Therapy
Trauma can shape the way you see yourself, other people, and the world — often without you even realising it. Whether you experienced a single traumatic event or years of difficult experiences, trauma therapy can help you process what happened and reclaim your life.
Recognise Any of These?
- Flashbacks, intrusive memories or nightmares
- Avoiding reminders of what happened
- Feeling constantly on alert or easily startled
- Emotional numbness or feeling cut off from yourself
- Intense shame, guilt or self-blame
- Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe
- Physical symptoms — tension, pain, fatigue
- Relationship difficulties
Experiencing some of these doesn't mean you'll always feel this way. The right support can make a real difference.

Book NowCommon Questions
Will I have to talk through everything that happened in detail?
Not necessarily. EMDR in particular does not require you to describe traumatic events in detail. Carolyn will work with you in the way that feels safest.
Is it safe to start trauma therapy?
Safety and stability come first. Carolyn will spend time building a strong therapeutic relationship and developing your coping resources before any trauma processing begins. The work is paced by you.
